The Christ Child raises His arms in embrace: a 5.5 inch-high ornament you can print, cut out, and enjoy.
A vintage die-cut, minus one arm, rests against a grecian column in the museum of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Mankato, Minnesota.

Christ Child Ornament

I visited Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Mankato, Minessota, In Search of The Nativity, and found its Gothic arches pierced with luminous stained glass windows.

On the left wall of the church, between the Resurrection and the Annunciation, there is the Nativity.

It's a marvelous depiction: Joseph keeps watch, and Mary kneels, hand raised to cover the Slumbering Child.

Even the small detail of the Babe, (above right), shows the beauty of Saints Peter and Paul's sacred art.

One is grateful to those who gave so generously to the glory of God, including the Nativity window donor family of Charles Schwarble, whose name appears in a golden ribbon in the bottom stained glass.

More treasures in the Church Museum

On the second floor of the dark brick church office building adjacent to the church iis the Saints Peter and Paul Museum.

It's filled with treasures — candelabra, richly embroidered vestments and processional banners, fine lace altar cloths, crucifixes — and Parish Administrator Mark Frederick kindly gave me a tour.

Among all the rich testaments of history and faith, a vintage die cut, resting against a small Grecian column capital caught my eye (see image, above left).

It depicts the Child Jesus, arms outstretched in embrace. It's an exquisite piece — mouseover the thumbnails at right, above, to see a closeup detail — even with its left hand missing.

Hand restored, thanks to the miracle of Photoshop, and the rather squarish cloud at the His feet gone, the Christ Child Ornament was born.

I'm delighted to shared it with you as a Free Download.

There are four Christ Child Ornaments in the 8.5 x 11 PDF page for you to printas many times as you'd like.

You'll notice that two are mirror image — to be displayed separately, or as two double-sided pices.

I would like to thank the Saints Peter and Paul Parish for this beautiful ornament.

Enjoy!

I made these one year for our First Holy Communion catechism class. They loved them!
