Alexis Blog

So much has happened since last I wrote to you, and I'm excited to share the latest Crèchemania news.

One of the reasons it has been so long since we comminicated is that I've been traveling, photographing my upcoming book, In Search of the Nativity.

In fact, I have just returned from an inspiring trip to Alaska, where I walked the paths once trod by Orthodox saints. Now, only Hawaii remains, and I plan to visit there soon.

In the meantime, I have been sharing beautiful new nativities for you to enjoy,

And, with Easter just around the corner, I was thrilled to be able to offer you the Diorama of the Resurrection, a beautiful German vintage sheet from the Crèchemania Collection.

I also wanted to tell you that to our growing list of the popular Premium Downloads, I've been adding Printed Sheets as well. These are quality ink-jet printed with fade-resistant inks on professional, heavyweight paper, great for card modeling.

In fact, many nativities are now available as Premium Downloads — that you can print again and again — as Printed Sheets, and Combos (Premium Download & Printed Sheet) packages for a special price. In our Combo package you get five quality Printed Sheets and a Premium Download that you can print on letter sized paper as many times as you wish.

Visit the Paper Model Kiosk and see it all. Our latest offerings are listed below..

Diorama of the Resurrection

Celebrate Easter with the Diorama of the Resurrection Diorama. It's sure to be treasured for years to come, not just as a private devotion, but as a meaningful aid for home, church, or school catechism.

Set within a Gothic tracery of trefoils and pinnacles is depicted the Passion: the Stations of the Cross, labeled by Roman numerals I to XIV. Above the front arch is pictured the Last Supper, and below, past Roman soldiers fallen to the ground, the Risen Lord stands by the empty sepulcher. In the distance, on Golgotha, Christ's True Cross stands among the tau crosses of the two thieves.

The Manger Scene

There's so much about the 1930's The Manger Scene to enthrall the crèche enthusiast. There's the artwork — those rich, saturated colors — that artist Corinne Bill Bailey used to depict the Nativity.

There are all those colorful twelve figures, among them adoring angels and shepherds, and Magi in splendid raiment astride even more splendidly adorned camels.

Santa Maria Novella Nativity

Sometimes, a paper nativity captures your imagination, and was is the case with this small 4 x 4.75 x 1.75 inches crèche. What I found endearing is the art: what could be lovelier than a manger adorned with roses?

But the odd, asymmetrical, shape of the German vintage original gave me pause. But I knew just what to do: the beautiful façade the Basilica of Santa Maria Novella in Florence now graces the front of the Santa Maria Novella Nativity.

Santa Maria Novella Minature Nativity

Can it be? That a small scale does not diminish the beauty of a crèche? This certainly seems to be the case with the Santa Maria Novella Miniature Nativity.

This is so much more than a a smaller scale — 3.25 x 3.75 x .5 inches — of the vintage original: this miniature has been redesigned for assembly ease: the Mother & Child figures are now part of the Manger, and the Magi adorn the Front façade inspired by the Basilica of Santa Maria Novella in Florence.

Pine Tree Minature Nativity 1 & 2 Collection Combo

The Pine Tree Miniature Nativity 1 & 2 Collection Combo offers you six nativities for a special price. These miniature variations of the vintage Czechoslovakian Pine Tree Nativity feature the Nativity set in a gabled brick manger.

Two angels hold sprigs of holly, the Star of Bethlehem shines bright, and a banner proclaims the Good News: "Gloria in Excelsis Deo!"

Don't be surprised, once you've started on these delightful miniatures that you won't want to stop!

Pine Tree Nativity

Don't be surprised if this Premium Download of a vintage Czechoslovakian paper nativity becomes a favorite. It has four layers, measures 8 x 7 x 1.5 inches, and is easy to assemble since the Mother & Child and Magi pieces slip into Manger side wall slots.

The art? Beautiful. The embossing? Rich: look at the folds in the angles' dresses, the snowy branches, the bricks, the star and its rays. Four layers give this fold-out nativity a wonderful 3D look.

12-Pointed Star Nativity No. 3

This Premium Download features a curved front, a feature not often found in the world of paper crèches.

The front, brightly illustrated with shepherds, sheep, foliage, and palm trees, curves back and the roof folds back and is inserted into the manger façade making assembly a cinch.

Bell Nativity

From the Crèchemania Collection comes a vintage paper nativity special enough to inspire this PMK No. 100 Premium Download. It's so easy to assemble, even a child can snap together! — but you still may have to guide small hands with the cutting.)

Brightly colored and richly embossed. Take a look at the large images that accompany the Bell Nativity display page and you'll see why you'll be proud to add it to your collection.

Bell Miniature Nativity

Behind a white picket fence under a tall bell-tower-topped brick-and-mortar manger is pictured the Nativity in this miniature — 4.75 x 3 x .75 inches — crèche.

Just two layers make assembly easy. Add a gold cord, and create a one-of-a-kind ornament for your Crèche Tree. Actually, two-of-a-kind, because our Premium Download contains two miniatures.
